GHK-Cu (Copper Peptide)

GHK-Cu is a complex of the tripeptide GHK (glycine-histidine-lysine) with a copper ion (Cu²⁺). The histidine group binds the copper in a manner similar to how the body transports copper.

Mechanism of action under investigation

Research is being conducted into this complex in relation to the production of connective tissue proteins such as collagen and elastin, and to the regulation of genes involved in tissue maintenance. The strong but reversible copper binding plays a central role in this process, as copper is a cofactor for various enzymes. Research often combines biochemical analyses with gene expression studies.

The blue colour explained

The characteristic blue colour is caused by the coordination of the copper ion within the peptide.
